In 2010, Memphis started its own branch of the international Urban Sketchers movement, where artists get together each month and go out into the city to draw. Watching other artists do quick sketches with color included inspired me to try my hand at watercolor for the first time. I like the liveliness of the watercolor in combination with a pen and ink sketch, and I'm having a great time working out in the world and documenting my favorite places. These watercolors are each $75  unless otherwise noted in the information (hover your mouse over each for location and price). They are mostly 7x9" (rectangular) or 6x12"(longer rectangles). A few that are a little larger at 9x12", priced at $85, and the extra-wide panoramas are 6x18" ($95).

Shaker village at Pleasant Hill, KY

Urban Sketching circa 1830. This village was built in the early 19th century and is now a museum/inn/restaurant and a lovely place to spend a couple of days.
                                Country Workshops, North Carolina

Country Workshops has become one of my favorite places over the last few years. It's a small woodworking school on a beautiful farm, and we're lucky enough to visit regularly. I've done oils, pastels, prints, and now watercolors of the place. Check out their website at www.countryworkshops.org to go and stay and take classes in woodworking, cooking, or basketry.
