House Portraits and Commissions
I've been doing commissions as part of my urban sketching. People have asked me to paint their houses, their neighbors' houses, schools they went to, businesses they own, or homes they grew up in. I'm currently working 12" wide (height depends on the shape of the building and the scene). Commissions are $200, or $225 outside the I-240 loop, for gas and extra time.
Sometimes people want a painting of a place that's special to them, maybe a first date site or favorite family eatery. I've done a variety of scenes for particular occasions or just because people love Memphis and would like a bit of the city on their walls. I do these pieces 7x10" or 6x12", depending on the shape of the subject, and both sizes are $125. They look great in a 3 or 4 inch mat to give them a little larger presence, but this is a good size to balance the line and the watercolor. Too big, and the drawing gets lost.
