Opera Sketches

Here are a number of quick sketches done at the opera (often in the dark) over the last several years. I love sketching while listening to music, and usually that means blues/jazz/old time in my normal life, but it's equally fun at the opera. My nicely contained water brush (like a pen with a cap) has made this much easier. In earlier times I was wandering around the lobby of our fancy downtown restored theater with open cups of dirty water trying to find somewhere to dump them. It's a much neater process now that no longer requires a lap board to work on. My dad was a patient opera companion during the early days of this.
