Regular readers of this blog will know that there are various trees in various places that call my name, and I tend to go back and draw/paint/carve them again and again. One of those is this small tree at the Country Workshops woodworking school, where we're sometimes lucky enough to house-sit. I've done pencil sketches, multiple pastels, an oil painting, and a letterpress block of this one. Today I'm drawing out a bigger print block of it -- again taking advantage of the bigger proof press I now have to work with. Unlike the letterpress print at the bottom of the post, the new one will be three colors.

Everyone should find at least one tree to bond with. Looks absolutely great. Can't wait to see some more.

I love your theory on everyone finding their tree. (at least one...I've got several). Thanks for the encouragement. I've stalled out on this, trying to get a few other things done, but I can't wait to get carving.

I'm not making the symposium. I really want to get to one sometime, but my dad is taking the family to Greece this summer, so I'll be painting over there instead. Are you going? It sounds great. I'd love to go out working with so many other artists. My friend Elizabeth Alley founded the Memphis Urban Sketchers after attending the Seattle symposium a couple of years ago.
