I've been trying to take advantage of the wonderful weather we've had (before it starts raining again tomorrow) to get out and paint. Fino's a great little Italian deli and restaurant with dog friendly outdoor tables and a fabulous meatball sandwich. It's highly popular among my friends and family, and it's one of my Christmas commissions.
Below is another Central Gardens home. It never gets sun on its face, but it has lots of lovely details that hopefully give the picture interest even without great light.
The response to my Playhouse show has been a stack of commissions for Christmas of houses or businesses people are fond of. I love getting to be a part of people's special occasions, and the commissions are also nudging me out of my usual places to paint different neighborhoods. I've always loved the homes in Central Gardens (the southern, more grand neighborhood in Midtown, as opposed to my Evergreen neighborhood, which is equally old and lovely but less grand in its architecture). I just don't walk there regularly, so I don't think about painting there as much. This week I'm doing several houses, and I think I need to branch out and spend more time there. It truly is lovely.
So here are two homes from Central Gardens, and I'm heading back over there directly.
